Klancie Argue of St. Ignace Competes for Teen Title

Contest This Weekend at CMU in Mt. Pleasant

Klancie Argue Klancie Argue, 14, of St. Ignace, will be among candidates competing for the title of Miss Teen of Michigan Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23, in Mt. Pleasant.

She is the daughter of Michelle Argue and William Argue II.

Each candidate will be scored in six categories, which are Scholastic Record, Achievement and Service to School and Community, Personal Development of Talents and Skills, General Awareness Written Test, Personality Projection in Formal Wear, and Interview.

Mrs. Argue said that rather than a traditional beauty pageant, the competition emphasizes interview skills and academic achievements. Sixty percent of the score involves written resumes and testing.

The winner of the competition will receive a $1,000 scholarship, $500 savings bond, and her school will receive a $250 prize. The winner will be eligible to compete for the Miss Teen of America title.

State Pageant Finals will be Sunday, July 24, at 3:30 p.m. in Warriner Auditorium on the campus of Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant. The event is open to the public and tickets will be available at the door.
