Leona Grenier

Leona Patricia (nee Fox) Grenier of San Diego, California, formerly of St. Ignace, had a successful career as the manager of the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Manhattan, New York.

Mrs. Grenier died at the age of 84, March 28, 2006, ending a 13month struggle with cancer.

She had been living in the San Diego area for the past year, where her family was taking care of her.

She was born August 25, 1921, in West Virginia, to Flora and Peter Petroff, an immigrant from Eastern Europe.

She was one of three daughters born to the family.

Her first husband was killed in action in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

After the war, she married Norbert J. Fox, and they had two children, Robert and Michelle.

She later married Mel Grenier, who preceded her in death.

She subsequently had a close friendship with Pat Durm of St. Ignace, who died in 2001.

Mrs. Grenier is survived by her son and his family, Robert and Holly Fox, a daughter and her family, Michelle and Howard Steele, and five grandchildren, Trevor, Devin, and Mary Fox, and Shawn and Derek Steele.
