Bonnie McKerchie Spring

Bonnie McKerchie Spring, 58, of Sault Ste. Marie, formerly a manager for casinos owned by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 7, 2009.

She was born February 12, 1951, to Ken and Helen McCoy.

Mrs. Spring was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

She is survived by her husband, Greg Spring; her former husband, Russell McKerchie; three sons and their families, Russell and Sheryl McKerchie, James and Paula Mc- Kerchie, and Michael and Christina McKerchie; four stepchildren and their families, Steven and Lindsay Spring, Jason Spring, Brian Spring, and Stephanie Leask; 17 grandchildren and their families, Marissa and Charlie, Tyler, Bonnie "Fuzzy," Jacob, Dakota "Cybil," Logan, Brienna, Trevor, Hailey, Kayla, Myah, Ella, Lucas "Gus," Dylan, Jaycee, Bailey, and Evan; and one great-granddaughter, Gracie. Also surviving are eight siblings and their families, Chip and Ruth McCoy, Mike and Kim McCoy, Danny McCoy, Patrick and Betsy McCoy, Cathy and Tony Abramson, Carol McCoy, Sherry McCoy, and Lauri Henry, and nieces and nephews and their families, Lisa and Brandon, Laura and Matt, Tony, Amy, Robin and Eric, Jennifer, DJ and Tan-a, Kristi, Vicki, Tom, Autumn, Jessie, Patrick, Elijah, Austin, and Noah. Mrs. Spring leaves behind extended family members and many friends, including special friends at the War Memorial Hospital Dialysis Unit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law, Barb McCoy; and a nephew, Derrick.

A family gathering was held Friday, January 9, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the home of Cathy and Tony Abramson in Sault Ste. Marie. A gathering for friends and family took place Saturday, January 10, at 11 a.m. at the Niigaanaagiizhik Ceremonial Building.

Donations may be made to War Memorial Hospital Dialysis.

The family was assisted with arrangements by Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie.
