Lillian Hartwell

Lillian Hartwell Lillian Hartwell Lillian Mae Hartwell, 87, of Pickford, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.

She was born June 19, 1925, in St. Ignace, to Francis and Lilly (nee Kelly) Potter.

She grew up in St. Ignace and attended school in Adrian. She then met William Hartwell and they were married in St. Ignace. Mrs. Hartwell worked in the woods and in fisheries.

Mrs. Hartwell attended the New Horizons Church of the Nazarene in Pickford and the Les Cheneaux Christian Fellowship in Cedarville. She enjoyed visiting the casino and playing bingo.

She is survived by her daughter and her family, Georgeanna and Michael Plont of Pickford; eight grandchildren and their families, Phyllis Thompson, Ruth Mastaw, Barbara Patrick, Joann and Earl Pomeroy, Paula Thompson, Susan Thompson, Paul and Kimberly Thompson, and Francis Thompson; 19 great-grandchildren, Henry, Denny, Tyler, Dawn Marie, Ashley, Shaunda, Melissa, Josh, Paul Robert, Sherry, George, Tammy, Michelle, Michael, Sheryl Ann, Beth Ann, Samantha, and Johnny; and 34 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hartwell was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Billy Potter, Walter Potter, and Alfred Potter; and one sister, Dora Shampine.

A service was Tuesday, April 2, at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The funeral was at 3 p.m. with Pastor Craig Weihman.

Interment will be in the spring in North Rudyard Cemetery in Kinross Township.
