Goldie Blair


Goldie Blair Goldie Blair Goldie A. Blair, 85, of St. Ignace, owned and operated River Bend Resort at Carp River for many years, where she was best known for her signature “Goldie Burgers,” and she owned “Goldie’s,” a catering business. Mrs. Blair cooked for Governor James Blanchard on Mackinac Island, and she also cooked for the Bay de Noc Youth Camp at Brevort Lake. Mrs. Blair passed away peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Bortz Health Care Center in Traverse City, with her family at her side.

She was born January 23, 1929, in Flint.

She married Wilfred “Ed” Blair October 19, 1946.

Mrs. Blair loved to cook. She was a lifelong member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, which she helped establish. She was also its president.

After their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Blair enjoyed traveling and spent their winters in Florida.

Mrs. Blair is survived by four daughters and their families, Karon and Richard Hunter of Grand Rapids, Pam and Ken Kraemer of San Antonio, Texas, Terri and Paul Downey of St. Ignace, and Tami Brooks of Traverse City; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Blair of Clawson.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Blair.

A memorial service will be held at Carp River Cemetery in early June.
