Dean Bruning Dean Bruning Dean Allen Bruning, 51, of Hessel, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at his home.

He was born March 2, 1965, to Ernest and Charlotte (nee Fountain) Bruning in Sault Ste. Marie.

Mr. Bruning grew up in Cedarville and Hessel. He was graduated from Cedarville High School in 1983. After graduation, he worked construction for Elgie Pollard and Mike McMaken. He met Toni Cadreau in 1994, and they were married in 2002. Mr. Bruning currently was employed by Bacco Construction, where he was considered an excellent employee for the last 16 years.

He was a proud member of Operating Engineers 324.

Mr. Bruning loved hunting, fishing, and camping. His cooking specialty was venison. He enjoyed working on the farm and pushing down trees with his tractor. He enjoyed sitting around the campfire while listening to the music of REO Speedwagon, Queen, and The Eagles. Mr. Bruning had a wonderful laugh that his family and friends will never forget.

He is survived by his wife, Toni Bruning of Sault Ste. Marie; two sons, Dakota Swinton of Olivia, Minnesota, and Saige Bruning of Hessel; four stepchildren and their families, Amber and Chris Nettleton of Buffalo, New York, Joseph McGruther of Charleston, South Carolina, Casandra and Ben Wittum of Sault Ste. Marie, and Ashley and Aaron Sherlund of Hessel; four grandchildren, Jacklyn, Garrett, Christopher, and MacKenzie; his parents, Ernest and Charlotte Bruning of Cedarville; his grandmother, Della Fountain of Pickford; his twin brother, Drew Bruning of Cedarville; a sister, Elli Lasley of Sault Ste. Marie; two nephews, Austin Bruning and Zachery Lasley, and a niece, Shelby Lasley.

Mr. Bruning was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Raymond Fountain and Ernest E. Bruning; his grandmother, Loretta Bruning, and an uncle, Richard Fountain.

A private family visitation was held. A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, October 13, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Wendy’s Runway Bar and Grill in Hessel.

R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford is assisting the family with arrangements.
