Rena ‘Irene’ Fenlon

Rena Fenlon Rena Fenlon Rena “Irene” Fenlon, 92, of St. Ignace, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017, at Evergreen Living Center in St. Ignace.

She was born October 24, 1924, to John and Helen Cleary in Mackinac County.

She married John R. Fenlon August 3, 1942, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage and 14 children.

Mrs. Fenlon worked at First National Bank in St. Ignace as a bookkeeper. She retired in 2005 at the age of 80.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her family said, and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and playing cards. She particularly enjoyed chocolate milkshakes at McDonald’s. Mrs. Fenlon loved the Detroit Tigers, and she watched as many games as possible.

She is survived by 11 children and their families, Pat Norwich of Hobe Sound, Florida, Anne and Tom Demske of Marquette, Mary Marriott of Charlotte, Kathy and Mike Hughes of Rogers City, Molly and Bud Mathews of Hessel, Mike Fenlon of St. Ignace, Vicki Fenlon of Wexford, Ireland, Jane and Glen Hampton, Dan and Sue Fenlon, and Maggie and Jeff Saunders, all of St. Ignace, and Susie and John Krol of Gaylord; 31 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

John and Rena Fenlon John and Rena Fenlon In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fenlon was preceded in death by her husband, John, who died December 7, 1994; three sons, Tim Fenlon, John Fenlon, and Joe Fenlon, and two brothers, Irvin Cleary and Clarence Vallier.

Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, October 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace with Father Frank Ricca officiating. A luncheon followed.

Visitation was Thursday, October 5, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace.

Burial was at Gros Cap Cemetery following the luncheon.
