Richard Beaudin

Richard Paul Beaudin, 42, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, died Saturday, January 20, 2018, after a nine-year illness with cancer.

He was born September 2, 1975, to Jerry and Sue (nee DeLaat) Beaudin in Grand Rapids.

Mr. Beaudin moved to Curtis in 1986, and he was a graduate of Newberry High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served six years in Hawaii on the USS Chosin until his honorable discharge August 2, 1999. He continued in the Naval Reserves for an additional two years.

He attended Grand Valley State University in Allendale, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in cartography. He was employed by Map Supply, Inc. in North Carolina for 12 years.

Mr. Beaudin enjoyed reading, especially military history and science fiction, and he had many online friends who shared his interests.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Sue Beaudin of Curtis; three sisters and their families, Katy and K.C. Dumas of Paw Paw, Patty and Kel Royal of Sault Ste. Marie, and Linda and Patrick Jago of Kingsford; three nephews, Tyler, Emmet, and Arik Dumas; his grandmother, Nellie DeLaat of Jenison, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Sarah Beaudin and Paul DeLaat.

Graveside services with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will be held this summer at East Lakefield Township Cemetery.

Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry assisted the family with arrangements.
