Robert Lounsberry


Robert Lounsberry Robert Lounsberry Robert Joseph Lounsberry, U.S. Army Master Sergeant (Ret.) of El Paso, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018, in El Paso. He was 71.

He was born May 11, 1946, to Harry and Marguerite (nee Paquin) Lounsberry in Highland Park.

Mr. Lounsberry grew up in St. Ignace. He was graduated from LaSalle High School in 1965.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966. He served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968, after which he was stationed in El Paso. He served 32 years active and the U.S. Army Reserve from 1969 to April 2001.

He married Yolanda Hernandez October 10, 1970.

Mr. Lounsberry enjoyed his grandchildren, family, animals, history, particularly military and Native American history, and watching football. Family members recall his favorite foods included tacos, popcorn, and sandwiches.

He is survived by his wife, Yolanda; two sons and their families, Christopher and Laura Lounsberry and Anthony and Bridget Lounsberry, and four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lounsberry, Sean Lounsberry, Aiden Lounsberry, and Mackenzie Lounsberry. He is also survived by a brother, John Curtis of Indiana, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Fredrick Lounsberry, who died in 1984.

Visitation was held Wednesday, January 17, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home in El Paso with a vigil at 7 p.m. A scripture service was held Thursday, January 18, at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a committal service and interment at 10 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso.
