DeTour Raiders Girls Basketball Bests Alanson

The DeTour girls basketball team split a pair of its recent games. The Raiders bested Alanson at home Wednesday, January 17, 36-30, but was defeated Friday, January 19, on the road by Newberry, 48-35.

The first quarter of the Alanson game was a defensive battle that saw the Raiders hold a 6-4 edge on the Vikings. While the offense picked up momentum afterward, the game remained close with DeTour leading 17-14 at halftime and 28-25 after the third. The Raiders held an 8-5 advantage in fourth-quarter scoring to seal their victory.

In the Newberry game, the Indians pulled out to a 13-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and increased it to 23-15 at halftime. DeTour outscored their opponents 10-7 during the third quarter, but Newberry clinched the win with an 18-10 advantage in the fourth.
